To kick off our list of Best Spring Walks in South Wales, we are going to start in the part of the Brecon Beacons National Park; Sugar Loaf with a summit of 596m. Trekking through woodland, from the top you can see views across Abergavenny and take in the breath-taking scenery of the Black Mountains. Considering we are thinking about walks in South Wales, you can’t get more southern than this walk along the beautiful coast of Pembrokeshire. It is great for those who enjoy wildlife spotting and romantic sunsets. Starting from Marloes Sands Car Park, along this route you will have a lot of opportunity to spot wildlife. There are often baby seals rolling around on the sandy beaches and if you are lucky, you might see dolphins! Enjoy the history of iron age forts and the geology of the peninsula which has igneous rocks that are the remains of old volcanoes.

If you are looking for some tranquillity, follow this trail along the Nant Llech River valley, finding your way through the woodlands to Henrhyd Falls. This South Wales walk will really give you some time to relax and enjoy the wildlife. With a wooden walkway and bridges, this is a great route for the family, listen out for the crashing water of the falls. Henrhyd Falls is the highest in South Wales, at 27m, keep an eye out for trout and other wildlife around the falls.

For something a little easier, the Bosherston Lily Ponds are a great place to go. The walk is mostly along gravel paths but there are a couple of narrow causeways. The great part about the Lily Ponds is that if you are quiet, you might see a family of otters. You can also get to Broad Haven beach along this path too, so if you want to start your trip to the beach with a beautiful walk, then this great walk in South Wales is the way to go!
